Ever look at someone’s hair handiwork and go, Omg, how do you even know how to DO that? That’s how you’ll feel when you see this half-updo braid fashioned by Joico Celebrity Artist, Jill Buck, of Salon Nine Zero One. But what’s revealed – when you watch the video and read Jill’s simple step-by-steps – is that this cool summer ‘do is deceivingly easy to recreate.

The illusion: Jill’s hairstyle appears to be a complex woven braid fashioned all around the crown of her head. It’ll have you scratching yours, going – wait, is that French-braided to the top of her hair?
The “psych:” It’s actually just three regular-old braids that Jill forms at strategic places on her head; then texturizes, fluffs, tucks, and winds them around each other in clever – but so easy – ways.
What you’ll need: Joico Beach Shake Texturizing Finisher, Joico Humidity Blocker Finishing Spray, a couple of small hair elastics, and a few bobby pins.
NOW DO THIS:
2. Section off the top portion of hair, from temple to temple.
3. You’re going to make 3 braids, using 2-inch sections, working from the front of the head to the back.
4. Start with the front section; braid it, secure with elastic, then let it dangle off to the side while you make another one right behind it.
5. Secure the second one, and let it dangle off to the other side of the head.
6. Now make the third one, secure, and let it dangle in back.
7. Spray braids with Joico Beach Shake for more texture and hold; then loosen and pray open the braids a bit for a fuller look.
8. Starting with the back braid, tuck/roll it under itself and secure to the crown of the head with a bobby pin.
9. Take the second braid, and wrap it around the first, securing with another bobby pin.
10. Wrap the last braid around the first two braid (going the opposite direction as you did with braid #2), and secure with bobby pins.
11. Finish with Joico Humidity Blocker Finishing Spray to keep frizzies at bay, and a bit more of the Joico Beach Shake for hold and grip.
12. Smile to yourself when you realize how smart this hairstyle makes you look.
